Charging Optimization of Lithium-Ion Batteries Based on Charge Transfer Limitation and Mass Transport Limitation

Fast charging of lithium-ion batteries is essential to alleviate range anxiety and accelerate the commercialization electric vehicles. However, high currents seriously deteriorate battery life due danger metallic lithium deposition on anode accompanying degradation reactions. In this work, a reduced-order electrochemical-thermal coupled model with typical side reactions applied capture dependent variables related behavior plating. To completely suppress plating, two novel algorithms are designed based constraints minimum plating overpotential in maximum surface concentration at anode/separator interface, respectively. The definitions sensitive parameters weighed, current rates 0 100% state charge different temperatures optimized. Then, fast strategies under specific optimized according sequence preventing overpotential, saturated cut-off voltage from exceeding preset values. Finally, proposed conventional protocols performed cyclic aging tests temperatures, which verified that can significantly shorten time delay aging.
